Providence is calling a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Part-Time/ Variable Shift) at Providence Tarzana Medical Center in Tarzana, CA.

We are seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist who will be under the indirect supervision of the attending physicians, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The Nuclear Medicine Technologists maps radiopharmaceuticals using a camera, measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, monitors wipe tests and dose calibrations, and administers radionuclide dosages. This position reports to the department Manager or Director of Imaging Services and is responsible for observing all radiation safety regulatory requirements.

Maintain required applicable licensure, certification and education.
Attend and successfully completes general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements.
Participate actively in department staff meetings
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communications.
Use of Standard Precautions in all patient contact as applicable.
The provision of a safe environment for patients, visitors and co-workers.
Reporting and responding to facility emergencies such as fire, infant abduction, and disruption in utilities and hazardous materials spills.
Report all suspected abuse or neglect.
Demonstrate skill in the use of equipment including its capabilities, limitations and appropriate/special applications
Ensure that the rights of all patients are respected and maintained by allowing for privacy, cultural diversity and dignity in the provision of care.
Demonstrate a positive professional image, performs responsibilities in a professional manner, demonstrates flexibility in the provision of patient care/service and utilizes a collaborative approach with co-workers.
Function as a team member, contributing to the smooth operations of the unit on a day to day basis, and for the patients/customer’s overall general welfare.

Identify cost saving strategies appropriate to the department.
Demonstrate knowledge of age specific care for the neonate through the geriatric population, including but not limited to identifying the need for additional safety measures, or activities that place patients at risk. Applicable for the populations: Infant, Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric.
Under the indirect supervision of the attending physician, administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients intravenously using radioisotope equipment.
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures using scanners and cameras.
Position radiation beams and patient to allow for effective treatment of patient’s diseases.
Map radiopharmaceuticals using a camera to detect radiation emitted.
Produce computerized images of clinical area of interests on film and send to radiologist for interpretation.
Calculate, document and record radiopharmaceutical dosage used, received and disposed of.
Measure radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors.
Perform dosage calibration, wipe tests and radionuclide dosages.
Draw blood from patients, performs laboratory tests, and measure glandular activity, blood volume, and red cell survival.
Calibrate radioisotopes, laboratory equipment, and cameras.
Stock radiopharmaceuticals according to radiation safety guidelines.
Demonstrate willingness & ability to float to areas within their scope of practice as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities when the care giver is a team leader:
Perform Imaging procedures in compliance with department protocols.
Perform quality assurance/quality control systems or programs assigned.
Assist in staff scheduling.
Resolve patient care issues and concerns.
Address patient scheduling issues.
Serve as a preceptor, mentor and support to coworkers and students.
Perform daily workqueues.
Report any accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to Management.
Attend Lead meetings.
Demonstrate high integrity, accountability, and tactfulness.
Must be respectful and equitable in dealings.
Display superior work ethics and professionalism.
Coursework/Training; Successfully completed a program in radiological technology.
6 months Nuclear medicine experience in an acute care setting.
Current LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire.
- 1 year Nuclear medicine experience in acute care setting.
