Providence is calling a Full Time, Day Shift Orthopedic Program Manager to Providence California Regional Services in Tarzana, CA.

We are seeking a Orthopedic Program Manager that will implement regional service line strategies that ensures quality outcomes, supports inter-disciplinary care teams, engages physicians in growth and development of efficient, effective and value added orthopedic services within a variety of care environments. Provides in-service education to staff to facilitate coordinated patient care services.Develop new orthopedic clinical programs, implements new care delivery models, develops patient and caregiver education strategies and responds to orthopedic community needs for outreach services. Provides oversight to orthopedic quality initiatives, provides teams with quality data results and leads teams to action with identified opportunities for clinical improvement. Actively participates on the Orthopedic Clinical Program Leadership Team. Assists in advancing the vision of a statewide Orthopedic Clinical Program network.Actively move the work of the California Regional Orthopedic Clinical Program and system Musculoskeletal Clinical Performance Group for identified Orthopedic priorities (e.g. development of care pathways, new technology assessment, creating new/advanced care models, population health and prevention initiatives and information/quality measurement and reporting).

  10. Role modeling professional communication and behavior in diversified and constantly changing environments.

  11. Working and negotiating with outside consulting group.

In this position you will:

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, employees, and as appropriate, other information.

  • Demonstrate service excellence and positive interpersonal relations in dealing with others, including patients/families/members, employees, managers, medical staff, volunteers and community members, so that productivity and positive relations are maximized.

  • Consistently demonstrate and incorporate principles of safety and infection control into daily activities as outlined in Environment of Care, Infection Control, and Exposure Control manuals and department safety policies/procedures. Consistently uses personal protective equipment as required and takes appropriate precautions whenever there is potential for contact with blood, body fluids, chemicals and/or other hazardous materials. Maintains knowledge of work-appropriate aspects of environment of care programs, complies with policies and reports unsafe conditions. Successfully completes Environment of Care HealthStream modules in the required time frames and participates in fire drills and emergency exercises.

  • Develop individual objectives consistent with the Providence Health System's Management System. Measures and reports on individual objectives quarterly.

  • Consequently, the employee must be competent in the interpretation of a patient's self-report or behavior, and this information must be interpreted with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial and chronological maturation process. The treatment of patients should be individualized and should reflect an understanding of the developmental needs and range of treatment needs for each patient.

  • Implement regional service line strategies that ensure quality outcomes, supports inter-disciplinary care teams, and engages physicians in growth and development of efficient, effective and value added orthopedic services within a variety of care environments:

  • Develop protocols, policies and procedures

  • Develop program/service objectives

  • Measure outcomes and results

  • Conduct patient chart audits and reviews care provided

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives

  • Ensure coordination of clinical services for a connected patient care Incorporate current research and best practice into program standards and practice

  • Review all data/findings and interprets quantitative and qualitative data relevant to service line

  • Participate in development of strategic short and long range plans.

  • Capitalize on marketing opportunities

  • Identify needs/opportunities for care and makes recommendations to refine and improve delivery of orthopedic services

  • Develop expectations for (project) teams and provides direction and mechanisms for expectations to be met

  • Participate in developing service line budget and manages allocated resources efficiently for program, project and services assigned

  • Determine referral source targets, identifies needs of the referral sources and their patients and facilitates referral source education and relationship building

  • Engage and support physician involvement in Orthopedic services and products

  • Oversee direct patient care provided by the interdisciplinary team:

  • Conduct patient interviews

  • Review and evaluate individualized plan of care or intervention strategies identified by the interdisciplinary team to assure plans follow evidence based guidelines adopted by the Orthopedic program

  • Advise on and works with Case Management on discharge plans to manage patients length of stay and disposition

  • Provide consultation to interdisciplinary teams in the inpatient hospital and Develop, implement, and participate in educational programs for patients and families/caregivers

  • Monitor ancillary service involvement and utilization

  • Round cases with physician/team

  • Serve as patient /family advocate with physicians, health care staff, and/or administration

  • Take action to ensure continuity of patient care

  • Maintain a close, collaborative and consulting relationship with all disciplines who provide and/or supports patients receiving orthopedic care (i.e. nursing, pharmacy, pastoral care, emergency room providers, surgery, lab, rehabilitation, volunteer administrative services)

  • Develop measurements to track and report processes and outcomes. Ability to serve as an advocate for continuous quality improvement and to lead and direct teams to accelerate change toward ever-improving quality and operational performance

  • Enhance professional growth and development through literature reviews, seminars, conferences, etc., as they pertain to system and physician integration, quality improvement, strategic planning, and clinical programs/services in a changing healthcare environment. Shares learning with others

  • Develop/participate in public, professional and system educational programs to further knowledge, expertise and awareness regarding conditions that may lead to Orthopedic specialty interventions

  • Work collaboratively with health plans, finance, Clinical Programs Division and Hospitals to help develop integrated and coordinated systems of care which fulfill the vision of a connected care experience

  • Work collaboratively medical groups to help develop and implement new services and programs (e.g. Medical Home) that offer new innovative ways to deliver care that meets Triple Aim strategies and progresses clinical transformation initiatives

  • Develop and implement state-wide educational programs and clinical services as part of the outreach strategy to serve communities in need

  • Participate in implementing Musculoskeletal system and regional initiatives through Large Joint, Trauma and Sports Focus Group’s prioritized actions designed to standardize variation, effectively utilizes resources and shares expertise to develop high quality, cost effective and comprehensive orthopedic service among Providence Health and Service ministries

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Nursing, Physical Therapy or Occupational TherapyProfessional licensure in Nursing, Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy

  • California Driver’s license

  • Requires Current BLS-HCP - Basic Life Support-For Healthcare Providers

  • Experience practicing in acute, outpatient or other medical care environment specific to orthopedics

  • 3 years experience in a supervisory role or equivalent years of experience/education in management, finance, and/or other administrative functions

  • Experienced in conflict resolution

  • History of working independently, with minimal supervision

  • Experience working with physician practice operations

  • History of working as part of an interdisciplinary care team

  • Experience as a participant/leader for project team

  • Experience in a team leadership role

  • Skilled in conflict resolution

  • Ability to manage clinical and technical talent

  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals

  • Ability to develop, direct, coach, and motivate staff to provide quality service with effective/outstanding outcomes

  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including effective listening and presentation skills

  • Demonstrate excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, measure and achieve goals. Ability to negotiate a favorable outcome under challenging conditions

  • Demonstrate self-motivation with demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize work, manage time and respond effectively to rapidly changing environment. Ability to use cognitive thinking skills, leads inter-disciplinary groups and prioritize and organize work in an accurately and timely manner

  • Ability to promote the work of the Team and oneself in one-on-one interactions as well as public forums

  • Demonstrate political savvy

  • Demonstrate project management and word processing skills

  • Knowledge of Orthopedic trends, services and practice; knowledge of Orthopedic sub-specialty services

  • Advanced clinical knowledge of orthopedic patient conditions and diagnoses

  • Ability to facilitate meetings and develop teams, negotiate difficult conversations and manage projects/plans according to timelines and expected results
