Providence Health & Services Provider Relations Southern California Region Manager in Mission Viejo or Tarzana in Tarzana, California


Providence is calling a Provider Relations Southern California Region Manager (Full Time/Day Shift) at

Providence California Regional Services.

We are seeking a Provider Relations Southern California Region Manager who is responsible for operating in a matrixed organization, under the direction of the Executive Director, Strategy and Business Development and the Ministry based Strategy & Business Development leader, this position will be responsible for developing relationships with community based providers to support clinical institute and programmatic growth within a PSJH Ministry.

The position's primary areas of responsibility include development of strong physician relationships and alignment with PSJH ministries and offerings. The Position is responsible for enhancing physician awareness of programs and services and fostering deeper ministry loyalty by improving physician satisfaction and experience.

Efforts include one-to-one physician and office staff interaction, development and maintenance of physician activity and trends, education and creating relationships with other providers in the delivery network. Recommends and coordinates specific initiatives to attract and retain key physicians.

Responsibilities include the retention and recruitment of excellent physician partners that enhance the volume of high quality clinical care provided to patients in our Ministries. The position will serve as a physician advocate by developing and managing communication between physicians and PSJH Ministries. Effective performance requires working closely with Regional Strategy, Ministry Strategy & Business Development, Administration, Medical Staff leadership, and Service Line Directors to identify needs and priorities.

In this position you will:

  • Provide leadership for Southern California Ministries physician services and volume growth

  • Initiate and facilitate new business development opportunities through proactive relationships with physicians

  • Conduct regular direct contact with physicians and office staff (including medical staff and non-medical staff physicians), establishing a positive relationship, identifying opportunities, and gathering market intelligence.

  • Connect physicians with physicians in support of sharing Ministry performance and opportunities

  • Support, collaborate and maintain communication with identified service-line staff, including personnel within PSJH, regarding physician activity, opportunities and problem resolution as needed. Coordinate meetings when appropriate

  • Work with Ministry Leadership and Regional Strategy to develop practices and increase business; as well as helps maintain occupancy levels

  • Identify recruitment, retention, redirection opportunities requiring further intervention

  • Assist in the planning process of physician programs to promote physicians within the hospital setting, to the community, and between physicians

  • With Ministry develop, implement, and monitor physician alignment, integration, recruitment and retention plans consistent with community need, to support PSJH strategic priorities

  • Work collaboratively with physician leadership in all aspects of service line development.

  • Ensure alignment and support of strategic priorities, maintaining strong, collaborative relationships in order to better understand the needs, requirements or other factors to service line programs

  • Maintain and analyze activity reports on physician performance regarding inpatient/outpatient utilization

  • Assist and contribute to the planning process and coordination of health fairs, and special events as requested. Attends functions representing the Ministry, including open houses, in-house events, and others as identified


Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Engineering or Clinical Science, or related field or equivalent educ/experience

  • 3 years Management and/or leadership experience within a health system, medical group/IPA, or related health care organization

  • 2 years Health care industry sales experience

  • Demonstrated experience developing successful working relationships with physicians

  • Proven history of leading change across multiple functional departments in a matrixed organization

  • Experienced in overall business analysis including marketing, quality and financial data

  • Experience preparing business and sales plans

  • Understand the dynamics of physicians, incentives, alignment models, clinical programs and how all interact with the health care delivery system

  • Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare market, program development, business modeling and marketing

  • Ability to transparently and accurately share performance data with physicians and develop plans for improving network performance

  • Able to establish strong team relationships and build trust and open communication with physicians, executives, managers, and employees

  • Ability to represent PSJH in public settings

  • Superior analytical and quantitative skills with a proven ability to analyze data/reports and extract meaningful information to drive change

  • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills in dealing with physicians, hospital and System administration peers and staff

  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) at all levels of the organization

  • Well-organized and follows through with details

  • Manage change and promotes positive interpersonal relations

  • Efficiently and effectively solve complex problem

  • Demonstrate ability to drive change and drive detailed projects to successful completion

  • Take initiative, prioritize work, manage time and respond effectively to rapid changing environments

  • Current knowledge of trends and developments in healthcare organizations, functions, and processes

  • Maintain confidentiality of all PSJH health system, client and physician information

Preferred qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in an integrated health system similar to Providence St. Joseph Health

  • Experience in entrepreneurial or start-up environments

  • Experience with Business / Market Intelligence tools and CRM platforms
