Providence is calling a Respiratory Care Practitioner I (Part time/Night shift) to Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center in Tarzana, CA.
We are seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner I who will be responsible for administering and charting all aspects of respiratory therapy depicted by the respiratory care practitioner license under the direct supervision of the medical director.
In this position you will:
SERVICE:
Promote patient, physician, customer and employee satisfaction by personal example, treating all contacts with respect
Support and participate in activities that foster customer service
Communicate and follow the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate
PEOPLE:
Maintain required applicable licensure, certification and education.
Attend and successfully completes general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements
Participate actively in department staff meetings
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communications
Communicate effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. Applicable for the populations: Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric
Collect and document essential data utilizing patient record, patient interview, physical assessment and lab values and therapy on appropriate forms
Initiate and maintain continuous mechanical ventilatory support utilizing essential data previously gathered
Recommend ventilator strategies to help improve patient’s ventilatory status
May perform the following procedures; assist in endotracheal intubation, bronchoscopy and tracheostomy, position and secure endotracheal tubes, withdraw and analyze blood samples and suctioning airways
Assume responsibility for the prompt and/or routine execution of physicians’ orders relating to respiratory care
Initiate and maintain continuous pulse oximetry, capnography and oxygen therapy
Administer medication to the respiratory tract, including: bronchodilators, decongestants, wetting agents, mucoidal emulsifying agents, steroids, antibiotics, surfactant and any other FDA approved drug for such application
Initiate and maintain intermittent and continuous nebulized medication and humidity therapy
Perform, document and report basic bedside pulmonary screening noting patient effort, position and any other relevant information
Accurately document and transfer completed patient care to the department billing system in a timely manner
Clean, replace and replenish necessary equipment and supplies in any and all areas assigned during the shift, reporting the need to reorder supplies and/or equipment
Accept accountability as lead therapist when requested
Demonstrate willingness & ability to float to areas within their scope of practice as necessary
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of a program for respiratory therapy
Current California State License
RRT required for all new grad Respiratory Therapist applicants hired on or after 1/1/15.
Note, Respiratory Therapists credentialed prior to 1/1/15 are grandfathered as CRTs
Current Healthcare Provider BLS
Current Healthcare Provider PALS
Current LA City Fire Card within 90 days of hire
ACLS card within 6 months of hire
Knowledge of tests, therapeutics, disease processes and medical terminology
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
At least 6 months of respiratory experience
