We are seeking a Special Procedures Technician who will perform diagnostic and interventional radiographic procedures.
In this position you will:
Follow Universal Protocol at all times to ensure correct patient, correct procedure, and correct side.
Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program, infection control, and patient/customer safety standards.
Perform radiographic examinations for both neuro and peripheral vascular procedures.
Perform invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Scrub and assist medical staff with the performance of both diagnostic and interventional procedures for neuro and peripheral vascular procedures.
Anticipate procedural requirements, open sterile supplies and set up for procedures.
Perform scrub function simultaneously with X-ray tube positioning and film exposure.
Drape patients for surgical procedures, establish pressure, flush, and contrast lines per policy.
Position and transfer patients comfortably in and out of bed. Help pick up and transport patient to their respective units.
Assure appropriate use of radiation badges for both staff and physicians. Report high badge readings to appropriate personnel. Maintain a report according to hospital policies.
Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, progress reports, and other such reports.
Check equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
Develop film including evaluating film for technical quality.
Maintain X-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; perform preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis.
Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
Explain procedures to patients and answer questions.
Maintain records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
Attend meetings as required.
Collaborate with vendors to assure updated consignment inventory. Check equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis for sterility and prevent equipment expiration consistent with JCAHO requirements. Maintains consignment par levels through monitoring and reordering of supplies on a daily basis.
Maintain X-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order. Contact outside service for malfunctions and regularly scheduled preventative maintenance.
Perform and maintain State mandated log of radiation fluoroscopy levels.
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
The following job accountabilities may be reassigned:
Transport patients to radiographic room; prepare and maintain room.
Request and order supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
Required qualifications for this position include:
BLS for Healthcare Providers sponsored by the American Heart Association.
